Domino 6 Designer crashing - looking for other server

I am trying to open up Domino Designer (or from Lotus Notes, trying to create an Agent) and when Designer opens up, it attempts to connect to a server that is no longer in existence and just hangs afterwards. I need to end task Lotus Notes / Designer and reboot the entire PC.

Can anyone please suggest a way that I could prevent Designer from trying to access that non-existent server anymore…

Thanks…

Baljeet,

I’m so glad to hear that worked for you!

THANKS, renaming “bookmark.nsf” did the trick. !!!Although I am working with 6.5.1 and the thread is a couple of months old, I had the same problem with the Domino Designer. I tried reinstalling, tried a non-network default printer (as suggested in another thread), uninstalled a couple of programs, freed up my hard disk, lost nearly a complete day of work… and I nearly threw my computer out of the window - then I found this thread. Thanks again.

Baljeet,

I wonder if it’s your bookmarks causing the problem. Try this - take your client down, rename bookmarks.nsf and then reload Notes and Designer. Failing that, the only thing I can think of would be to blow away your notes.ini (well, leave your kit type and directory as is) then do a reinstall. I’m running 6.01 also (though mine is CF1, not CF2) and notice occasionally inexplicable behavior from time to time - perhaps this is an example of same. Have you considered upgrading to 6.0.3?

I can guaran-damn-tee you that DD isn’t looking for anything outside of your Notes.ini file - probably a Sametime Server setting or something like it. Were I in your shoes, I’d just do a search for the server name in your Notes.ini file and remove the reference there - if you’re not comfortable editing Notes.ini, then make the corresponding correction in your local address book.

That was the first thing I tried - searching the notes.ini for that server - and it didn’t register a hit.
