I was under the information that 6.5 was supposed to be as stable as 6.0.3 well if that is the case guess neither is very stable.
I have an outside email sender that sends mac attachments that are corrupt (where the corruption occurs is unknown at the moment) and when our router processes them it crashes. this has happened 3 separate times.
SMTP mail should not crash my server that is A BUG.
Smtp has been giving us nothing but headaches, mail not getting through sporadically but with out an identifiable cause, while other mail works fine.

Our Domino server was crashing every 3 hours too, giving more fuel to the “anti-Domino” people at our company. It turned out to be a 3rd party Department Calendar application we were using. We turned that off, and it hasn’t crashed again. I can hardly blame Domino for that.
We get SMTP mail from all of the world, in other languages too. We have no issues with SMTP and no crashes.
You didn’t say that before. This probably has to do with the encoding of the attachment. There has been some discussion about this before, I think. For instance this item . Not sure if this solves your problem, but we experienced similar issues with attachments being sent from a MAC, and setting this to AppleDouble (base64 only) solved it.
Well its set to that on the outbound, but the problem is the inbound anyway.
I am sorry but no matter what attachment you throw at my server by smtp it SHOULD NOT CRASH
This is a 4.6.7a server that was ‘upgraded’ to 6.5.
What’s that you ask? Why did the server never get upgraded before? ’
Because since it was put on a rock solid w2k box in 2000 it had required approximately 5 hours of my time. It was bullet proof. Well it did go down one time someone sent 40 ppl a 200mb file. but i dont fault it for that it was a disk space issue
Post upgrade it had taken 8 times that in two weeks. So many problems …really ready to go back to 4.6.7a
I remember having had similar issues on one of our SMTP servers. I asked the guy who solved that, and as far as he remembers it was the antivirus package (Antigen) that killed the Domino server every time an email message with an attachment, sent from a Mac, passed through. After we switched from Antigen to TrendMicro, the problem was solved.
BTW, what are your person documents set to, for conversion of inbound internet messages? “Keep in senders’ format” or “prefers Notes richtext”?

HiThe a/v was the first thing I thought of and uninstalled Norton AV. Also test bed had no a/v installed ever… was a clean OS. Both crashed.
Have tried various settings for the recipient, but I don’t believe that it is even getting to the conversion process. Thanks for the input though… lotus support has it and they said it would probably get elevated to development today.
