Hi,
I have a customer currently setup with Sharepoint portal server, and they are in the process of selecting a mail server; Exchange or Domino.
Is there a way to integrate Domino within Sharepoint? Could they use Domino Web access to run in an iFrame? Or is there a sharepoint component available for Domino?
The customer is looking to have emails, a team calendar, and the “public directory” (This seems to be a functionnality of sharepoint/Exchange).
We know well Domino, but know nothing about sharepoint. The customer is leaning towards Domino as their head office is currently using it. But it will have to work with Sharepoint! What can they do and not do with Sharepoint/domino?

Some people do demo iNotes in Sharepoint iFrames, or use some of the more advanced “screen scraping” web parts, but I am not aware of anyone who uses these in production.
Ideally web parts are rendered at the server, include integrated security (single sign-on), and support advanced web part features such as integrated UI styles and the ability for parts to pass data/events to each other.
If you want to develop your own web parts that read and write Notes data, take a look at Proposion N2N, a managed ADO.NET data driver for accessing Notes/Domino data and services. We have a simple sample SharePoint web part that uses N2N in our on-line library at Products A-Z.
Of course it would be nice to have a suite of plug-and-play email, calendar, directory web parts. We are working on just such a thing! If you are interested in helping us with requirements and being an early adopter, please contact us at support@proposion.com.
