Domino 6.5.1 Server showing CPU 100% utilization for Npop3

Hi everyone

We have a Lotus Domino Server 6.5.1 running on OS Windows 2000 Server,

No spoke servers attached to it.

It is still sending and receiving emails however its running very slow and CPU utilization is continuous 100%. sometimes for following files one by one

npop3.exe

Now it is continuously 100% from past 10 hrs for file npop3.exe

We tried shutting down server renaming mail.box and restarting server …still no success.

there are no much heavy emails or attachments getting sent or received also.

Still the CPU utilization is 100% on npop3.exe

I have seen the POP3 issue be a real pain with Domino. SEVERAL tickets opened with IBM with little to no solution.

Somethings to try

Have POP3 users NOT save copy of mail on server. The process that compares the messages in POP3 takes up mucho CPU. I had 1500+ pop3 users on an as/400 and the CPU would constantly be at 90%+
