Domain Search claims to have more results than displayed

Hello,

we have the Domain search for all databases on a single web server implemented.

Until a month ago it worked like a charme but now it claims to have for some searched patterns more results than displayed.

For example it tells "I have 26 matches found but no document is displayed. Or it claims to have 34 matches and it displays only 5.

The same results are coming for

  • the search via web with a specific form we implemented for that

-also with the Domain Search form of the Domain Catalog via Notes Client.

Any idea what that could be or how could that be solved ?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

                             Ionut

Sounds like you need to rebuild the index. Try

tell domidx q - Stops indexer

load domidx -d - Deletes the index

tell domidx q - Stops indexer

load domidx -s - Starts the indexer.

Hi, Peter,

thank you very much for your suggestions. In the mean time I think I’ll have to do that too, but I wouldn’t begin without a careful preparation.

My concern is that the Domain Indexer would take a lot of ressources to build the index from 0 and it would take a lot of time. In some articles from the view it’s mentioned that the rebuilding of the index from 0 would take days if not weeks.

According to these problems, do you think it’s possible to rebuild the index on a separate server with the same data without affecting the user of the running productive server ?

Best regards,

Ionut

Hi Ionut

I guess it depends on various things as to how long it takes to rebuild, e.g amount of data and server spec. As to if you can uild it elsewhere, I would say you can, but then you would either need to swap your users to use that server, or try to move the index - in which case you might have problems with having to also change the domain repository docs in the catalog etc

Cheers
