I need to configure my organizations domino smtp routers to receive mail to domain literals (thats the [aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd]. eg postmaster@[10.0.0.1]

Read your Domino Admin Help document “Global Domain document - Conversion Tab”. I believe the section “Alternate Domain Aliases” has a wildcard that covers that.
