My database is having around 50000+ documents, but I can make the view to select smaller number of documents, will this help in making the view refresh faster? or the speed is the same due to same no. of documents in the database?

Yes, it should be more efficient if it contains fewer documents. After all, evaluating the selection formula is only part of the work. If the document is in the view, Notes must also evaluate the column formulas, figure out where it goes in the view, create a row entry, and insert it into the index of the view.

You should also try to ensure that the selection formula and column formulae do NOT contain any time sensitive formula, such as @today, @now etc.
If they do then then refreshing Views will be much slower because the formula will need to be evaluated for every document in the view.
