I’ve searched this forum quite a bit, and have followed all of the advice, and all I need is a definitive answer before I scrap my current line of thought and move in another direction for my problem.
Here’s my situation. My boss and I are trying to roll out Notes 6.5.4 clients (we currently run 6.0.3) using Smart Upgrade. I created a custom installer using InstallShield tuner and added a section to the VDIR_INI folder in the INIFiles view to add the IM_NO_SETUP=1 entry so that our users don’t get prompted for Sametime. We do run Sametime, but it is only given to users on an as needed basis, and we can always set it up later.
When I install 6.5.4 clean on a system without Notes, the installer adds the IM_NO_SETUP variable to the ini. However, when I push the same installer out with Smart Upgrade, my Notes.ini changes are (seemingly) ignored.
Am I barking up the wrong tree here? Does Smart Upgrade ignore my changes, or is it that Notes won’t add a line to an existing notes.ini? I’m trying to avoid having to write a script to accomplish this, because it will be a total pain, but i’m starting to come to the conclusion that i may not have a choice.
