Does R8 allow more users per server than R7

I’ve scoured the documentation on R8 Server but could not find anything related to whether R8 allows more users per server than R7. I know in R6/R7 the number of users per server increased from R5. I know that R8 has better server performance but does it allow for more users compared to R7?..we are currently evaluating whether its worth upgrading or installing new R8Servers…

Example of environment

Windows 2003 SP2 32-Bit

Number of Users: 2500 users (5000 mailboxes as server is in a cluster)

Hardware Spec: IBM X365, Dual 2.8Ghz Xeon processor, 4GB RAM, 900GB SAN

Both pages show minor CPU usage improvements moving from 7 → 8, and large disk I/O improvements when moving to the mail8.ntf template.

If you’ve got CPU horsepower to spare, enabling document and design compression would probably get you even better I/O stats.
