My lotus notes has two issues.
every time i open email from the welcome screenm i get two email pages/tabs. One is rather minute, and the other one is the normal one.
Notes sometimes does not recognise new email, and therefore it does not highlight this in my subfolders. Also, after I read an email, it remains in bold highlight as if I had not read it.
any help would be appreciated.

This may help with issue 1 more than issue 2, but bookmark.nsf can cause funky behaviour like you described. Try this:
Go to your notes\data directory and rename bookmark.nsf to bookmark.bad (don’t delete it!). Then restart the notes client. Bookmark.nsf will be recreated fresh. You’ll notice all your bookmarks have been reset and your toolbars may have changed. Do a quick test to see if issue 1 is still a problem. If it’s fixed, you know your bookmark.nsf is corrupted. You’ll have to re-do some of your customizations to notes, like bookmarks and toolbars. If it’s not fixed, then I’m not sure what to tell you. We have constant trouble with corrupted bookmark.nsf files. I’d love to figure out a way to recover the file without starting over. Always a pain.
By the way, if you do have to recreate all your bookmarks, temporarily restore the bad bookmark.nsf and take a screenshot of your notes client. You can then work off that screenshot to rebuild the bookmarks. Makes things a bit easier.
