Does Lotus Notes or 3rd party software offer the following function

Hi All,

Just wondering if Lotus Notes Domino or a 3rd party application offers the following functionality ;

when a users account is locked, password digest/recovery appears to be a long winded process for an administrator…is it possible to have an administrators password which could be used to enter the users Lotus Notes client, and then change the password manually for the user…much in the same way that you can set up an administrators password in Windows XP to access all resources.

This would be a much quicker way for an administrator to unlock an id…let me know your thoughts…

While not woring exactly the way you discripe, I would guess you still find there what you are looking for.

then you can use 1 or more admin people which are needed to enter their passwords to unlock user ID and setup new password. See administrator’s help database for more info.

Thank you both for your responses…I think I may not have explained myself well…basically at present, if a user forgets their password, a password recovery is undertaken. However, this is slightly long-winded as we have to generate the password recovery code, and then apply it to the users id file to unlock it. This can be time-consuming, especially if there are 5-10 users who have all forgotten their passwords at the same time!

Therefore, is it possible to have a universal administrator password which could be used to access any locked id on the lotus notes client…i.e. when the user opens up their Lotus notes and are prompted for a password, could the administrator enter a universal administrator password hence accessing the users lotus notes and then going to the change password option from the toolbar and changing the password to something they remember…this in my opinion would be a much quicker way than doing the password recovery…

your thoughts on the matter would be most appreciated.
