Does anyone runs 6.0.3 on MacOS X?

In a previous post, I was warning against our experimental setup that shoed that 6.0.3 would not run under 10.3.

Unfortunatelly our additional testing tends to say that 6.0.3 just does not run on Mac. (we used the trial client)

Does anyone succeeded in using 6.0.3 on Mac?

If yes, coul you detail your MacOS system version, if it was a clean or upgrade install,…

Thanks

Our Mac people are running 6.0 on OS9 and 6.0.3 on OSX.I believe the installers are different - so the OS9 installers will not work on OSX & vice versa (I am not a Mac user).

I ran 6.0.1 on OS 10.2.6 for over a year and never had a problem. I went to 10.2.8 and Client 6.5 in the same day, and it worked so-so … about once every, say, 10 launches or so it crashes immediately, but then the next launch works.

Subject: Update (WAS: Does anyone runs 6.0.3 on MacOS X?)

The 6.0.3 trial doesn’t work under 10.2.8 on my machine.

I moved my existing 6.00 installation to a new folder, removed the Notes Preferences file and plist, and performed a clean install of 6.0.3. The installation ran just fine, no issues (apart from requiring all other apps quit whilst the installation runs: what is it with apps that do this? We’re not in Windoze now!!)

Attempting to run Notes just results in it unexpectedly quitting after the initial “new / existing installation” prompt re Notes preferences.

So, I’ve gone back to 6.00. Meh.

Basically, you experienced the exact same thing then me. I suggest IBM to REMOVE the 6.0.3 MAC trial from the download area.

We were not able to make it run on any MacOS system version (9.2, 10.2.x or 10.3)

Please IBM DO NOT distribute this build to your customer until further investigation

I’ll give a trial on 6.5 once a trial for Mac is available.

BAM

RE removing the 6.0.3 trial: I think IBM are relying on people not finding it.

If you click on the “Macintosh” link under the “Free Trials / Notes 6 client only” at this URL:

http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/down.nsf

You then get this page:

http://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/download/search.jsp?q="Notes+Client+6"&cat=&pf=Mac+OS&k=&dt=&go=y&sb=r&rs=ESD-DMNTSRVR&S_TACT=&S_CMP=&s=&sr=1

(to think some people still moan about Domino URLs!)

… which says:

“We are sorry, your selection resulted in zero matches. You may want to widen your filter criteria.”

LOL!

I’m not a Mac user… but you should have better luck with 6.5 (final release) and OSX.

Interesting… what’s different about 6.5 that means it’ll work on OS X I wonder? I mean, 6.0.3 is supposed to work on OS X! Best get over to the archived beta forum I guess…

I’m d’loading the 6.0.3 trial now, ready to go on my 10.2.8 (no classic environment) machine. Will let you know how I get on (I currently run 6.00 due to no updater availability).
