Does anyone know of a Capacity Planning Tool?

Hi all

We have Notes 6.0 sitting on AIX systems. I’ve been asked to monitor the mailfilesystem usage and analyse and predict diskspace growth.

People come to me and ask if there is enough space to add 230 more users, how much additional space would be needed to add these users allowing for growth of existing and new users etc

Currently i’m using df -k output and then manually calculating

total diskspace,

total free diskspace

total used diskspace

total no. of users on the filesystem

average usage rate

mailcap limit

25% room for growth etc

As you can see it is a laborious process, server by server, filesystem by filesystem. This is a newly created role and i’m the first person to do it here. As such there are no capacity planning tools or processes or standards in place and it has to be all set by me.

I’m sure this is not an uncommon functionality and people all over the world would be probably doing it already.

Can someone suggest me a good, easy-to-use tool that would probably be also able to provide graphical output and help me trend the future growth.

Money is not the criteria here and my management will be prepared to buy whatever i research and come up with ( reasonably of course)

So i’d appreicate any and all pointers

thanks

Kare
