I have a database that has a view that displays all documents (no selection formula). It is has a categorized column that displays the document form name.
Now the weird thing is when I copy certain documents from another database and paste them into my database, the database properties does show an increase in the number of database documents, but the document will NOT appear in the view.
Even more weird is that the form name will appear i.e the category for the document appears, but none of the documents are displayed - its an empty category.
Anyone seen this?

There are most likely readers fields on those documents that prevent you from seeing them.

Start with the easiest…
Create a view that contains all of the documents. Include columns like “Form”, “Date Created”, and some other fields that will help you identify the document as the one you are missing.
Is there a possibility that these documents have a “Readers” field on them? That would also cause this.

Yes. You probably have reader fields in these documents, with [roles] in them. As you are a member of these roles in the original database, you can read them, and therefore you can copy them.
The target database doesn’t have these roles in the ACL, so once they are copied over to the second database you loose the read access and cannot read them anymore.
The empty categories are a consequence of having a document in the category but not being able to read it. There is a new option in version 6, “don’t show categories with zero documents” which will remove the category name when the category is empty. Luckily for you it wasn’t selected on the target database…
