Documents are missing from the database

Hi,

We have one lotus notes database its basically an workflow application, we don’t have any replicas for this application, we don’t have Readers and Authors fields, we are implemented document locking to our database. our database size is 5047MB.

Problem : Documents are missing from the database, when we clicked on the document link from the mail we got from the database, we are getting “The linked document cannot be found in the view.” error. Can any body help me out this we are getting the problem frequently.

Please tell me Is document locking or size of the database is causing the problem.

Its urgent…

First off, you want to be sure that the docs are really missing, as per the other response. So take a couple examples and figure out what the docs are (hopefully the workflow emails give enough info) and try to find them manually.

If they’re really gone, then you try to work backwards to figure out what person or process may have deleted them. Quick story: for a few years I was the developer in charge of Lotus’ Notes help desk application. We had many similar mysterious deletions, and of course my various agents were the most likely to be accused. I took away delete access for everyone, and put in a button that did a kind of soft delete (this was pre-soft-delete days). And lo, the problem disappeared !

Other troubleshooting thoughts:

  1. Make sure the links are being made in a valid way. Do they work for most cases, and fail for just a few?

  2. See if any patterns emerge about the failures. Same person/group? Same type of doc/request? Etc.

Thanks Raphael for ur response, documnets that are missing are not shown in the database, I have tried with agent to search the document based on request number, Unid and Noteid but we didn’t get any thing. Only admin group having delete access for this database.

  1. We don’t have missing doc in the database, we can’t check for the sismilarities for the missing documents.

Is you link valid?

When you look at the link property, you should get something similar

Can you go in the db reference by the Hint server and open the replica, the view and after located the document based on the Unid?

It’s happening to every users of your db?

Thanks Jean for ur response, I have checked the link properties it showing it Hint as our production server and Unid of default view. Its not happening for every users we are missing randomly.

Users of the database don’t have delete access.
