Document not showing on website

Hi,

I have one particular document that I cannot access on our website and I’m not sure why. I needed to edit this particular document in order to update an attachment and the problem has been occurring since then. Basically I can’t see the document in a particular view and when I try to access the document manually by typing in the full address, I receive a web page saying “restricted site” and asking me for a login.

The document should appear in the following view:

www.legislation.vic.gov.au>Parliamentary Documents>Archive>Spring 2000>Bill. The document is called “Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances (Injecting Facilities Trial) Bill” and as you can see, it doesn’t appear in the view (it used to until I edited the document). If I open up another bill in a new window to get it’s full web address, I can substitute the docid part of the address of the “Drugs, Poisons…” bill, but get a ‘restricted site’ page. Eg:

Working Bill (Domestic (Feral and Nuisance) Animals (Amendment) Bill):

Non-working bill (Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances (Injecting Facilities Trial) Bill):

I can’t recreate the document because certain fields appear based on the ‘Created’ date.

I’ve looked at the document properties of a ‘working’ and ‘non-working’ bill, but cannot find a difference between the two. There are some extra fields (under document properties) in the ‘non-working’ bill, but I’m not sure if any of these would make a difference.

if anyone has come across this before or is able to help, that would be greatly appreciated.

Is any of these “extra fields” a readers field? That’s probably your problem. You have set a reader field on the document, which prohibits Anonymous from seeing the document.

The “Restricted site” page is simply the login page for this web site.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for replying. Yes, there is now an extra field which is a ‘readers’ field. It has a number of roles in there by default, but Anonymous is not one of them. Should I just add “[Anonymous]” as another reader, or am I able to remove the field altogether? If I add ‘[Anonymous]’ as another reader, will this also mean anyone within Notes will be able to read it?

Cheers,

Jason

As you want anyone to be able to access the document, you might as well remove the field, or the contents of it.

You should look into the design of the DB though. There should be a way to set the document to be available to anyone.
