Document.getUniversalID hangs?

I wrote a independent Java application (not an agent) which uses the Notes Object Interface for Java.Sometimes, it hangs like this:

As you might guess, the line at NotesDatabase.java:760 is this:

     String UNID = doc.getUniversalID();

Can anyone tell me what might be causing my program to hang - and what if anything I can do about it?

What does the application do? Could you post more of its codes?

Our application searches for documents that meet certain conditions, sorts them based on last modification dates, and caches the list of doc ids and dates. Later, on demand, it gets certain items from each of the documents on the list.

Unfortunately, there is lot of code in question - I’m not sure what I could or should post.

A basic feature of our algorithm is that for every Document in the DocumentCollection returned by the database search, we cache the document’s UNID and last modified date. This appears to be hanging while we try to get a document’s UNID.

By the way, since the thread where this code is running appears to be hanging, that particular DIIOP connection times out, closes the connection, and then throws an exception.
