Doc Link

Hi All,

How the doc link opening the correct document? How the DocLink is working? Using through DocID?

If I replace the DocId, Will it open the correct document?

Is it possible to set DocId in Lotus Script?

My Requirement is:

I have a saved document, “DOC A”.

In that document I have a button to create “DOC B”.

On Click of that create Button All “DOC A” field values will be created in “DOC B”.

by setting values

DOC B.Nam = DOC A.Name

DOC B.Add = DOC A.Address

When creating “DOC B”, Can I replace the “DOC A”'s DocID to “DOC B” like below

DOC B.DocID = DOC A.DocID — Will it work?

Kindly Help me in this regard.

Thanks in advance,

Kamal

Subject: Doc Link

Hi Kamal,

to create a copy of a document (DocB should contain all fields of DocA), you could use something like this

Call DocA.CopyAllItems(DocB)

Call DocB.Save(True,False,True)

To learn more about the document-ids, please have a look at the designer’s help: NotesDocument contains the properties “NoteID” and “UniversalID”

In the example above, there is no need to modify these properties, as each document gets it’s own id’s automatically

Hi Rich Schwartz and Joerg Jensen,

Thanks For your Immediate Reply.

I hope you are correct.

We cannot modify the UniversalID which is used to open a doc link.

When a new document created, new Universal Id will be created.

Is there any way I can achieve my requirement, I want to replace the old doc link with new doc link by Universal ID?

Thanks in Advance,

Kamal.

Presuming what you are talking about is doclinks in rich text fields, it won’t be easy… although an investment in Genii Software’s Midas Rich Text LSX might make it not too difficult.

Doclinks are based on the UNID of the document. You can not have two documents with the same UNID.
