I have a Problem with my Notes Router (Domino 8.0.1 on Win 2K3). After a Server restart or Router restart everything works fine. But - after some time - the following log entries appear:
…
25.08.2008 12:08:57 Router: No messages transferred to DNS-GMBH.DE (host DNS-GMBH.DE) via SMTP: The server is not responding. The server may be down or you may be experiencing network problems. Contact your system administrator if this problem persists.
…
and the mails get stuck in mail.box.
As you can see, the router does not try to contact a host (mx) but a domain (host name in error log ist exactly the same as the domain name.)
After a router restart the following line appears:
Funny thing: there are messages that are transferred while others are not transferred. After some time the number of mails that are not supported grows.
Does anybody have an idea what can be wrong? OS or Application? Any suggestions appreciated.
does the server has multiple network cards installed?i once ran into a similar problem and there was the prolem that the 2 network cards were mixed up: in the server doc first card was used for external named tcp1 and the second for internal tcp2.
I have the same problem. I cannot believe that a solution has yet to be found. Constantly stopping and starting the router task throughout the day just is not acceptable.
I’m sorry to say, but your problem MUST lay somewhere in a misconfiguration. This could probably only be solved by seeing your whole configuration…
Some points many users missing:
Did you check the event log of the OS? Is there everything normal (no errors)?
While mails won’t be passed out, could you access the mailed-to domain (ping or website) out of the OS on that server?
If the OS is OK - Are you sure that your domain is properly configured (incl. Ports in Server document, Routing etc)?
I’ve checked and reviewed many Dominoservers and if something was wrong with the routing most of the time there was a misconfiguration.
Rarely there was a problem with one of the mail.box (already mentioned in a separate reply → stop the server, rename the mail.boxes and restart the server → if routing works you can copy&paste the mails from the renamed boxes) or that an antivirus program made trouble.
If you cannot find anything, contact an IBM or a Businesspartner near you to help you find the problem. Sometimes more eyes help
Same exact problem here. Started with Domino 8.0.1, now on Domino 8.0.2 on I-Series. Need to stop / start router 3 or 4 times a day to keep mail flowing. DNS lookup to hosts work fine, Domino just cant deliver mail.
