We would like to use a DNS Blacklist site (reliable and free)for Domino 6.0.1 SMTP server.I don’t know which ones are reliable. Constructive comments are definately appreciated.

Some posters here suggest that using more than 2 or 3 RBLs is detrimental to performance. This actually depends on the speed of your Internet connection and the reliability of your name servers. We have used a great deal more than 3 at times, but I understand the concern.

If you must stick to 2 or 3, choose them well. This really depends on what types of spam are a problem to you. For example, if spam from dynamically assigned pools is the big problem, then you should consider dynablock.easynet.nl, whereas if spam from known spamhausen is a bigger issue, then sbl.spamhaus.org should be first. You need to be prepared to do some experiments.

RBLs alone will not fix your problem. You must consider local blocking and probably some form of content filtering package to sit behind RBL blocks and intercept spam that makes it through. We use the eManager add-in for Trend Micro ScanMail and it works pretty well.

We use sbl.spamhaus.org; bl.spamcop.net all the time, and then I play with others from time to time.
You need to look at the kind of stuff you want to block or tag. We only tag messages and then give the user a setting to delete or folderize. This means that using spamhause (which is rather agressive) is OK for us.
I guess what I’m saying is that ‘reliability’ which you asked about is not so much the issue as what type of spam and how agressive the list is. And you will have to see which ones fit your company best.
