What a dissapointment.
Once again I had great hopes that IBM will finally create a 64 Bit Linux version of Domino 8.5.2.
Guess what. It’s still not here.

Subject: 64-bit Domino
We are targeting this for Domino.Next. We are running in house already. You running into any issues with 32-bit that you think will be addressed?
Subject: no real reason to be disappointed
Sure, I’d really like to see 64 Bit Domino on Linux shipping as well, but the reality is if you just run 32 Bit Domino on 64 Bit Linux you are all set.
Running 32 Bit Domino on 64 Bit Linux gives you a full 4GB address space for each Domino process whereas on 32 Bit Linux it is only 2GB (~3GB on SLES due to changing mapped shared region). We’ve yet to have anyone need more than a 4GB address space under their workload (although that may change in the future).
Just get on 64 Bit Linux and if that doesn’t work for you let us know just that would be additional justification for 64 Bit Domino for 64 Bit Linux.
FYI - we did 64 bit Domino for Linux on zSeries because even on 64 Bit Linux on zSeries we still only had a 31 bit address space and hence only 2GB of memory.
Thanks!
