I have a categorized column in which I like to display 2 fields. I did it this way:Field1 + " (" +Field2+ “)”
Problem it looks not that well, because the Field1 content has different number of characters/letters. I would like to have the field2 starting e.g. after 30 characters. It should look like having used a tab in MS Word …
My idea is to use a font like MS line draw (identical space width) and count the charakters in field1 and than add the ‘missing’ number of characters as blanks to it, so that the field2-text starts after 30 characters.

Leini,
You can certainly do it, and I imagine one of the other responses gives a formula that will work for you. I’ve done this before, but always ended up canning the idea because the monospaced fonts just look so miserable in a gui application.

Don’t know how many documents you have in your view. Why don’t you create a computed hidden field for your first column field in your form and have a formula for it as:
This will make your first field with 30 characters. Now Concatenate it with your second field in the same column so that it looks like (without dashes ofcourse):
Firstfield--------------------SecondField
Descriptionfield-------------SecondField
Smtfield---------------------SecondField
Make sure you run an agent to fill the computed field in each document of the view so that the new field will contain the value of the first field upto 30 characters with added spaces.
or you can have this in the actual field of InputTranslation event and make sure you trim this field, if you are using elsewhere.
