Display quota and mailbox size information in MailFS frameset

Hi, I found many information about this issue.

This is one of them:

But I noticed one important thing:

The mail size information is not real time !!!

I know, mailbox size will not reduce even after user delete some emails. They need to compact the mailbox.

But, for any incoming email, from the user point of view, mailbox size should become bigger and bigger.

In fact, user must close and open the mailbox again to “refresh” that information.

Is there any other way to show the mailbox size “automatically”?

To IBM Lotus,

May I know, why you implement the information only in iNotes R7, not even in standard Notes client mail template?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Ivan.

The mailfile will NOT neccessarily get bigger with each email that is delivered. If there is sufficient whitespace, the new message fills the whitespace. Only when a new message causes the db to exceed the current size does the mailfile size get bigger.

The notes client user can file>database>Properties>Info Tab to see the size real-time. (They can compact from there, too.)But perhaps you could add something to the form that would refresh the field values on a schedule. The constant refresh you are requesting would be a lot of overhead on the client.

IMHO, if the user is so close to their mail quota that they need up-to-the-minute file size information, there is a problem somewhere…

RE: IBM Lotus : I would suggest directing it to the following blog, for possible inclusion in upcoming release:

Hi Maria,

Thanks for your reply and the link for the blog.

Yes, I know that incoming mail arrived will occupy white space first. But it is very difficult to explain this to “user”.

Anyway, we have added one small icon to refresh this information.

Ivan.
