I am trying to trouble shoot a problem for one of our end users. I have selected a document in the All Documents view of his mail database (using the 8.5 design) and have clicked on the Discover Folders… option. Notes comes back with “Cannot executre specified command”
It does not matter what document I select, I still get the same message. His original mail file design was 7.0.3 but the discover folders action did not work there either. I have run fixup against the mail file.
Any ideas what the problem is and how I can fix it?
Thanks.
Dennis
Subject: Are folder references enabled?
Have you enabled folder references in the mail file? I believe that feature is dependant on that being enabled. If folder references are enabled you’ll see a line specifying that at the bottom of the Information tab of the database properties.
Subject: Folder References are for IMAP
Folder reference have nothing whatsoever to do with this function. Folder references are used, and required, for IMAP access to a mailfile.
They aren’t required for the discover folder function.
It sounds to me like the DB design is somehow corrupted. Replace the design with an unmodified Lotus template and ensure the folders design is also upgraded.(Actions…Folders…Upgrade Folder Design) When you have completed doing this, test again.
Subject: Yes, Folder References are enabled.
Bottom of the info tab in application properties indicates “Folder reference attributes are enabled.”
Subject: Follow-up - When were folder references enabled
Folder references aren’t applied to existing documents when the DB option is enabled, are the documents you’re looking for pre-date the application of the folder references? You should be able to check that relatively quickly by looking in All Documents at document properties and seeing which documents have $FolderInfo and $FolderRefInfo fields, and which do not.
Subject: Some do and some don’t
Some of the documents do not have the $FolderRef, $FolderRefFlags, and $FolderRefID, but some of them do have those fields. Even the when I try to run the Discover Folders agent against those documents that do have those fields, the error persists.
Subject: Folder Info views?
In your mail file, are the $FolderAllInfo, $FolderInfo and $FodlerRefInfo view present?
Subject: Yes they are.
