Disabling the InViewEdit "feature" in designer7 (7.0.2)

I want to disable the InViewEdit feature in the designer7 client as, IMO, it’s all too easy to re-sign and/or rename a design element accidentally.

Does anyone know if this “feature” can be switched off in designer (or if it can be switched off in versions released since 7.0.2 - i.e., do I need to upgrade)?

Many thanks for any suggestions

Nope. Cannot be done (yet). Maybe in 7.0.4:http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/bpmpblog.nsf/dx/designer-in-view-edit

This can be done in 7.0.4, which I don’t believe is yet available, or 8.0.1. These versions also include a test to see whether you actually modified the data, and if you haven’t, they don’t touch the note.

The new INI setting is DESIGN_VIEW_EDIT=0 to disable in-view editing in Designer.

Meanwhile, if you accidentally start in-view edit, just press Esc to exit without changing anything.

Thank you both for your replies

Great news about the 7.0.4 update - I look forward to giving it a try.

I’ve been pressing escape to cancel the edit but sometimes I’m clicking ahead of my client so don’t realise I’ve put a title into “edit mode” before it’s too late (my old Pentium’s getting tired and spends a lot of time catching up!).

Thanks again,
