Directory Link & Network Drive

I have read many posts but cannot seem to locate a solution. Any ideas? The server is not running as a service (so there should be no permission problems running as local system, etc… right?). I am able to launch (using windows file explorer) the network drive and see databases (e.g. U:\test\dbs)… the server should have the same rights, correct? …since it’s not running as service. When I open the admin client (also on the server) and create a new directory link under root Domino data, it says “Server Error: Destination Path is Not Available.” after clicking OK button. I know there were issues with UNC. Why isn’t this working? We want to create an archive folder on a dedicated network storage device (it is private switched with no other traffic, etc.). Thanks in advance… is this a version thing? Was there an issue with 6.5.4? Is it because I’m creating it with an admin client on the server? …versus a remote client. Not certain why this would matter…

On the Server in questionCreate a text file with a value of “U:\test\dbs” (minus quotes)

Save the file in the servers’ data directory as “archive.dir”

Use windows explorer or similar program to make sure notpad didn’t rename it to ‘archive.dir.txt’. If so, rename file.

Then open the server via the Admin client on your PC, go to the files view. You should see the new folder called “archive” with a arrow icon next to it. If you click on that, it should open the “U:\test\dbs” directory.

If you cannot, there is some kind of permissions that prevents the domino server service from reading/writing to the “U” Drive mapping.
