Subject: Directory Assistance ? ? ? ? Help
Hi Cheryl;
Directory assistance is a much more flexible solution, although I think cascading address books still might work in ND6. Here’s how to setup dir assistance in a single server/domain environment such as yours.
Create a directory assistance database on your server using the template on your server. It’s an “advanced” template.
The name of the directory assistance DB can be anything you like. I use dirass.nsf.
Edit your server document and put dirass.nsf (or the name you use) in the directory assistance field. You can also use the AdminP process to do this is you like (see your admin documentation for the steps for that method). Save your server doc.
Open up dirass.nsf and click the “add directory assistance” button.
Leave the “domain type” as “Notes”.
Pick a unique name for the “domain name” and “company name” fields for this entry. Don’t use the same name as your server or your domino domain. I often use “DummyDomain1” or something like that.
Set the search order to “1” for this entry. Choose “enabled”.
On the Rules tab, leave everything as is, ensuring “enabled” is “yes”. Leave “trusted for credentials” to “no” if you’re only using that particular directory (see next step) for mail lookups.
On the “replicas” tab, fill in your server name and addres book name (suppnab.nsf) of the directory you are choosing to add. Choose “enabled”.
Choose “save and close”.
Repeat steps 4 - 10 for each additional directory you wish to add.
Don’t add your own domain’s directory - it’s implied.
Exit directory assistance.
Edit your server’s notes.ini to remove all entries except names=names.nsf
Bounce your server.
Create a new memo and hit the address button - you should have a list of your directories to choose from.
