One user is experiencing an odd issue. About a week ago they complained that they couldn’t open any messages in Lotus Notes. When we went to look at it that was obviously the case. Clicking on messages would do nothing besides makes the computer Ding. You could move from one tab to the other, but there would be other things that would make the computer ding like clicking on Option… in Replication and Sync. Renamed the Data folder and started again - still there. Reinstalled and the problem is still there. Not sure what it could be at this point, no big errors in the Event Viewer and nothing is coming up to indicate a crash. User is using webmail until we can figure it out, so not a huge priority, but it would be nice to have some direction to troubleshoot.

You where not able to get into any db or just the mail file? The user is able to function on another pc? Was this a new install or an upgrade? What os and version?
Does this pc have NVIDIA drivers? Look at this url http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21662284 http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21662284
To do a total clean install try the IBM Nice utility. http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21459714 http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21459714

We tried the exceptions in the NVidia program, renamed the csiviews folder and had it create a new one, and did the Nice uninstall - still no luck. Looked at the Calendar when it does its thing and do see the Insufficient Memory warning. The laptop has 4gb so we might try bumping it up to 8gb to see if that fixes it.

Did that, got the newest straight from NVidia.
Subject: Still no joy
Bumped him up to 16gb of memory, still having trouble.

OS is Windows 7 Pro, 64bit
Lotus Notes Social 9.0.1
The mail file opens, so you can see the messages, but you can’t open any of them. I didn’t try the calendar or other mail files, but in Replication and Sync I couldn’t open anything there either. I just opened up his mail file from my computer and it worked; additionally he’s been using webmail to access his mail. Have not set it up on another computer to check - don’t really have one to do that with right now.
He does have an NVIDIA, although not the models mentioned in the article and he doesn’t get the Insufficient Memory message either. I’ll try to do the exclusions and/or update the driver.
If that fails I’ll do the Nice clean install.
Thanks!
