I’m trying to activate HTTP password sync but not having any luck. The user is running a Notes 6.5.1 client which talks to a Domino 6.5.1 server, and the user’s Policy Synopsis shows that password sync is in effect. However when the user changes password via Notes client, nothing happens - No request is posted to admin4.nsf.
This user ID was created pre R6 and I applied the security policy using People > Assign Policy from the Admin client. After that I restarted the user’s Notes client, opened the user’s mail file and then changed their password, but no change. Am I missing something?
New policies, certificates, and name changes are only checked for and downloaded at most once a day, and only when the client is connecting to the home server. However, since only one ID file/timestamp pair is stored in the notes.ini file at a time, you can force the check to occur sooner by switching between ID files.
Some other possibilites are that the user has checked “don’t allow admin to synch notes/http password” in the User Security Dialog, and that you are using the older, less-secure internet hash format. Notes->http password synch only works with the newer (4.6?), more-secure internet hash format.
also, does the user have the authority to add documents to admin4.nsf, or has the ACL been changed fromthe default so that your users no longer have this access?
