Different Backup Retention Periods for different directories

We have a requirement that different directories on our Domino Servers have different retention backup durations. For instance, directory “A” is backed up nightly and has a 7 day retention but directory “B” is backed up nightly and has a 10 day retention. We use Veritas and the answer we got back from Veritas support is “It can’t be done, policy exclusions (on directories) are not allowed for the Domino Backup Agent”.

Questions: Has anyone else run into this with Veritas? Is there a way around it? Is anyone using any other backup software for Domino databases that does allow it?

There’s no better backup system for large enterprises than Galaxy Commvault (and no - I don’t work for them).

Use it in conjunction with their Data Archiver product and you’re away - http://www.commvault.com/email_compliance.asp

You can restore individual documents, not just individual databases and directories, and keep the same document UNIDs - Its just a teeensie weeensie bit more sophisticated than Veritas :wink:
