Hi

I have just migrated some of my Notes Servers (6.01) from a Windows based OS to Linux Redhat 8. The migration was very successful until I migrated one of the servers which handles dialin - everytime I try to replicate from one server to another via a modem connection I get the error message :- “Device or unit number already in use”.

I have tried several different modems namely a Hayes Accura 33.8 and a Netcomm and still the same error.

I can use the modem via the OS using the minicom utility so I can only assume that its not the modem hardware or the serial connection.

Anyone any thoughts.

Subject: Domino Server needs exclusive access to the Modem. Have you tried changing the ownership of the modem to the “Notes” id?

Thanks for your response - please bare with me as my linux skills are not as they should be - but I assume that you mean change ownership of the ttys0 ie

#chown notes ttys0

anything else I should do ??
