Desktop shortcuts reappear when launching Standard client

Hello,

We’ve explicity prevented the creation of the “Lotus Notes 8.5” Desktop shortcut during the installation of the Notes client. This was sucessfully done using the method described here (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21205546)

However, when a user launches the Standard client for the first time, the “Lotus Notes 8.5” Desktop shortcut reappears. This does not happen when launching the Basic client. Has anyone else run into this? It seems that the process of creating the user’s “workspace” folder has something to do with it. Our best guess is that this process ignores what was determined in the customized installation and implements the Desktop shortcut regardless.

Any advice would be appreciated!

So how to you prevent the Desktop and Start Menu icons from being created as part of the installation?

Subject: how to re-use existing R6 icons configured to use notes.ini in network?

i have the same encounter. so how do we prevent Notes 8 from creating the icons, and re-use existing ones that’s configured to use notes.ini in network drive?

Subject: Notes 8.5 Desktop Shortcuts - Solution

We found that you had to make sure that the properties in your transform PROGDIR and DATADIR were set correctly - we install to c:\lotus\notes

but by default the above 2 properties were something like C:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Notes

so we set PROGDIR to C:\Lotus\Notes

and DATADIR to c:\Lotus\Notes\Data

Subject: Standard config

That technote is only for R6/R7/R8 Basic, the shortcuts are created differently in the Standard config (by the expeditor) and the method outlined in that technote will not work for Standard config

We are having the exact same issue. Best we can guess is that one of the custom actions towards the end - ibmFinalactions or ibmCleanShortcutTable…

Would be most grateful if you could help…
