Desktop Settings editabled by User

We have set our Desktop Settings with an organizational policy. We have set certain settings (i.e., “Textured Workspace”) in the desktop setting and have enabled both Inherit and Enforce. But when I go into File, User Preferences, I can unclick and save the change to an untextured workspace and it will take affect. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations on how to rectify or where I can start troubleshooting?

While desktop policy settings are pushed to end-users, there are no provisions in R6 to prevent users from changing the affected settings anytime after the push; and the push won’t happen again until you make changes to the desktop policy settings. The confusing word “Enforce” just means enforce the policy setting within the cascade of different settings/policy documents, not enforce on the client.

Unless you are sure that all your machines are up to snuff on memory and processors, you might not want to enforce the textured workspace. I have seen some that are so ‘archaic’ that they can’t even bring UP the textured workspace. Why be so rigid in that area?
