Designer crashes constantly

I am altering hotspots from LS to Formula and then copying the formula into it. After doing this for no more than 3 fields the designer crashes. This has happened consistently this afternoon. I am about to reboot my PCto see if it continues. Very annoying.

Subject: Remove workspace

While not a solution to the specific problem you posted, a shotgun solution that has worked for me is to remove the Workspace folder beneath the Data folder. Better yet, rename it or move it elsewhere, so if you don’t like the result you can reverse the change by putting it back.

This will cause the Notes client and Designer to recreate all sorts of eclipse components and Java plugins, etc (look at what is in the workspace folder and subfolders if you are curious). In Designer you’ll lose any collections of databases you’ve saved as well as the list of open dbs when you launch the program.

Do this with all the Notes clients closed, of course. Relaunch, and Notes will recreate what it needs. Opening Designer is much faster…until later when the Workspace folder has grown again.

I’ve had Designer go south on me a couple of times, freezing or crashing while doing ordinary tasks it had done successfully hundreds of times previously. This was what fixed it shy of reinstalling everything.

You’ve got nothing to lose by trying. If you want it back the way it was, delete the new Workspace and put back the old one you saved.

Oh, and make sure Java is up to date. I had a machine with the Java updates turned off because they were annoying. Java was old, and Notes was flaky on that machine. Updating to the latest version stopped the lockups it had been experiencing.

Rebooted my PC but the Designer client is still crashing after altering a couple of fields.
