This is a problem I’ve previously posted about, but am reposting with new support files in the hope this will help someone find the cause. As per my original post, I have not found any way to reliably reproduce the problem.
Link to original post with a description of the problem:
This crash occurred twice on the day I first installed Beta 2, then didn’t occur at all for two weeks, then occurred again today.
I’m attaching a zip file containing a screenshot of Designer at the time of the crash, along with the NSD and DMP files.
The screenshot shows a workspace I created called “Workflow”, containing 6 databases. The crash occurred the moment I clicked the twisty to expand the fifth database, which displays “Loading…” instead of the database title.
…and I believe it has been fixed, but without an exact procedure to reproduce, it’s hard to be certain.
In technical terms, what’s happening is that the Eclipse-based workspace has a copy of a stale pointer to a structure that describes “the database open in memory.” We were seeing this happen after the user switched IDs; all databases they had open at the time were being shut down in core, but sometimes Eclipse didn’t get the memo. Any chance you’d been switching IDs shortly before the crash? If not, perhaps this might at least give you some insight about what you’re doing that’s leading to the crash.
A point of clarification: when you say you created a “workspace” – from the screenshot it looks like you just defined a working set called Workflow. If you’ve done something more exotic, please describe it in detail.
Subject: Question about attachments in this forum…
I submitted the original post in this thread in Notes, using the “Submit and attach file” button, and notice the attachment doesn’t appear in the views. Do attachments go somewhere that only IBM/Lotus people can access?
