Subject: same problem here
Win7 x64 -When ever I load the designer client… the darn eclipse crap appears to hang the designer until it “decides” that it has refreshed that blank DB you just created yesterday. (amongst other tasks (whatever they are))
Eclipse also slows the windows UI once the designer is open. Close it and you get some sembelance of performance back.

Hi,There is no problem with regard to windows7, i run the designer 851 in windows 7 fine.
Just check your memory & no. of other apps you use simultaneously. It must be more than 1 GB for a smoother operation.

Subject: Install the latest fixpack.
8.5.1 is only certified on Windows7 since fixpack 1.
Fixpack 4 is out, so install that and see if the issue persists.
Subject: Worked fine until FP3 for me but not with FP4 on XP
I am running into the same problems as the OP. No problems on XP (haven’t tested W7) until FP3. But with FP4 Designer is not usable.
