Hi guys, when I open up a database in designer, it can take anywhere from 4-8 minutes for the database to open. During this time there is activity on the hard drive. Thankfully once its open its okay when I go to re-open the database (assuming cache is involved here.) The following day I usually get the same problem.
Just now I was signing a database on a server and the Admin client took a good 4 minutes. Is it normal for Eclipse to take so long?
Thanks, PC
Subject: significant work done in 8.5.1
in Designer, we have substantially improved the speed of opening databases. We felt we could improve this, and we have!
Subject: … still slow I’m afraid.
Hi Maureen, sorry, but its still slow. I replaced a database’s design this morning. When I right-clicked on the database (on our dev server) it took a good 47 seconds to provide the right-click menu.
Our dev server is Domino 7.02 so maybe this has something to do with it. But I’m just not getting the response times I use to with my Notes 7.x clients.
We’re looking to roll-out Notes 8.5 in the next couple of months, and application speed is a big concern at the moment.
Subject: Unacceptable
The speeds returned by 8.5.1 are a disgrace. Opening a local database in designer can take a minute. Have a cup of coffee while designer decides to run “Initializing Java Tooling” after every action you try to perform. Whatever you do, DO NOT try copying and pasting a view.
Take a good, usable application and bring it to it’s knees.
Well done IBM.
Subject: Can you open a PMR?
So we can investigate your issue further here? Can you try the latest fix pack as well? See if that helps.
If your not able to open a PMR can you give more details on how to reproduce the issue here?
