Design Refresh not working

I have a weird situation I’m trying to get my hands around.

I have two servers

dev1 and prod1

I have the following database:

prod1\app.nsf

prod1\app.ntf

dev1\app.ntf (replica of prod1\ntf)

I make my design changes to dev1\app.ntf

I replicate dev1\app.ntf with prod1\app.ntf.

I then check the design of prod1\app.ntf and it has the new design.

Why is prod1\app.nsf not refreshing its design over night with the template? I haven’t did any admin work since R4.5 and this new company I’m at I have to also assume admin roles. Any suggestions where to look? or what to execute?

When I refresh manually the .nsf has the new changes.

Upgrade to v851. There are 2 known issues in v8.5 that may prevent the propagation of any design-changes by the Designer Task.

Subject: Some Things to Check

First, take a look at the LOG.NSF on prod1, in the Miscellaneous Events area, and see what is there around when the Design task runs (1am by default). This might give you a hint as to what the Design task saw when it ran.

Also, just to be on the safe side, ensure that the databases on prod1 and dev1 are replicas. And check their replication histories to ensure that they are replicating (you can get to this through the Basics tab on the Database Properties).

I would start there and see if you can get some info from that.

Don’t forget to make sure that the ‘Designer’ task is even running on that server. Do a quick ‘show task’ at the console, and if you don’t see it, check/modify the notes.ini to run design on startup.
