Mm adding my customizations to the mail template by inseting a sub-form which consists of controls like checkbox and . I am changing it on my own system. Now in order to propagate, I guess, we need to apply the changes on the server.
-
How to place it on the server? By copying the mail template .ntf file to the server system and doing a replace or is there any other way.
-
If we replace it how will it affect the individual user customizations?
-
Can we due to on a few selected users?

I’ll skip lightly over warnings about changing Lotus templates.
I’ll start with the simplest answer, not necessarily the best. You CAN put your NTF on the server and all mail files matching that design will conform to the new design overnight when the Design process runs.
Think about what happens when you get the next point-upgrade from Lotus and receive a new NTF from the installation. Adding a subform should be fairly innocuous. Any forms (or other elements) that you change will have to be manually updated with every upgrade.
Rather than doing a copy as described simply above, you might want to manually apply your customizations to a REPLICA of the Lotus template so that you can simply replicate it to the server when you add changes.
Additionally, you may want to give your replica a different name. Instead of using the name “StdR8Mail”, you might call it “OurCustomR8Mail” or somesuch. Then use the CONVERT command to change individual or all NSFs to force them to use the new name.

So, I will be placing the replica on the server.
Here my doubt is:
I will be creating and modifying the replica of “StdR8Mail” from my client. What effect will it have on the other users mail templates. I guess they would loose any local customizations they would have made to their templates?

This forum is not a classroom, this is a place where other admins and developers - some seasoned and some not so seasoned - come to share information and experiences to assist each other. Your task is a very basic one and when someone gives you the basic outline of what you need to do you need to take into account that we likely assume that you have a basic understanding of how lotus/domino work and that you will apply common sense when taking advice and attempting to implement it. Based on your questions it does not sound as though you actualy know what you are doing so I would recommend getting some real training before you mess something up. I’m not criticising you so don’t take it personally. Just go take some classes. The changes you are attemting to make alone make me question your abilities.

Thanks Doug for your info.
Paul,
Yes I am a newbie. I thought forums were to ask your doubts. Yes, the question could be silly, but one could always ignore if one thinks so.
Had done those changes by reading other posts, but wanted to cross check if I was on the right track.
Anyway thanks for your lecture.
