Deploy Custom Database as HomePage

I would like to be able to deploy, to selected users, using desktop policy a specific third party notes application as the home page.

To do this for a single user, I right click on a bookmark and ‘set as home page’.

How can I get a particular database to start when the user logs on ? Is there any way to control this trhough policies.

I don’t want to have to use a ‘welcome’ page as I cannot integrate this into the application.

The only thing I can think of doing is forcing my custom bookmarks to close upon opening and then launch the third party database.

Surely if Lotus introduced polices to control the desktop they can see people would wish to deploy a database of thier choice, not just ‘bookmarks’.

My question, though still is…can I do this without using a bookmarks template ?

I have been toying arround with a Desktop Settings document that is applied to a test user via Policy Doc, but it hasn’t worked for me.There is a section called ‘homepage/welcome page options’ that I put a doclink into.

Check it out and LMK if you have success.

I got it working with a homepage policy.

This is the only way I can get it to work.

*Create a copy of bookmarks.nsf locally

*Create a custom page (not custom design)

*Copy the database to the server

*Go into the desktop settings and drag the database to it to create a doclink. Select your custom page from the list.

I found it copies the document into the local users’ bookmarks, so they must have bookmark.nsf set as thier home page.

If you change the page, the changes do not get updated as if the document exists already in the users bookmark then it does not copy it again. This is true even if the policy has changed.

I’d like to see Lotus implement a more effective policy system, it really is a pain to setup, and even more annoying to change and impossible to enforce.
