Delete $REF

Hi,

With the new conversation thread functionality in R8 the $REF field appears on all new mail arriving which are replies. I understand the reason is to keep track of the original mail. There is also a new field named $TUA which holds all UDIDs in a thread.

Now my question.

We are using the $REF field to determine if we have received a new mail EVEN if it is a reply.

I am thinking about removing $REF when on new mail arrive agent but wonder if there will be consequences (besides the lost of the conversation thread) ?

Any thoughts are appreciated
