I have a user that previously would save copies of his messages in his Sent folder. He would then go to his Sent folder, drag to a personal folder, then delete from Sent. According to him, previously it would prompt him ‘Delete or Remove from View’. Now, if he attempts to put a document in a personal folder from the Sent folder, then delete the document from Sent, it is gone from his personal folder too.
Was this a design change? Is there any way around this new feature (bug)?

It would never have prompted to remove from view, but it would have given a warning that deleting from Sent deletes the document altogether. The choice to “remove only” is from the folder, not the view.

I may not explain this well in my first post. Here is what the user says previously happened:
-Compose a message
-Send and file
-Delete message from Sent or Drag message from Sent to personal folder presented user with a message “delete or remove”.
-Message could be placed in a personal folder and not appear in the Sent folder
I tried to repeat the same steps (6.5.3 server and client) and this is what happens.
-Compose a message
-Send and file (message appears in sent and filed folder)
-Delete message from sent, it also is deleted from the personal folder. No prompt appears to ‘remove from view’, but document is in Trash
When I send (and file) myself a test message, it appears in my Sent folder as well as the personal folder. If I delete from Sent, it also deletes from my personal folder. From the user description, it sounds as if he could previously remove documents from sent. He was presented with a prompt to delete or remove from view and he chose remove from view. Document would still remain in personal folder, but no longer in Sent.

The message would continue to appear in the Sent VIEW (not folder) unless someone deletes the PostedDate field – that’s the way it has always worked. Views select documents according to their field values, and Sent has always selected documents with a PostedDate value.

If you click on the Tools button in any view and select Preferences, there is an option in the Mail → Basics tab that handles deleting docs from the Sent view. You can choose Always Ask, Always Delete, or Always Remove.
I believe if you set this to Always Remove, it will not delete the document from any folder it may reside in.
