Delegating rights to create shared folders in a mailfile

Hi

When a user delegates rights to their mailfile to another user in the company, is there any way for them to delegate the right for the other user to create shared folders?

PAs need to be able to do this to organise their manager’s inbox, but it seems that giving full access from the preferences options doesn’t give the PA this right.

This obviously causes problems for us as we then have to manually change the acl, something which we’d rather not be doing.

Cheers for any tips

Dan

Not out-of-the-box, no, but it’s easy enough to add. All you need is an agent that operates with Manager access to the mail database(s), and no, it doesn’t necessarily mean making any changes to the mail template. Whether you want to let users choose who can create shared views/folders or add that automatically to people who’ve been given full delegation (read, create and delete) is up to you. If it’s automatic, then add a scheduled agent to an “administrative scheduled agents” database (always a good thing to have). There’ll be a lag between granting access via delegation and granting the ability to create views/folders, but that shouldn’t cause any real problems.

Thanks Stan, might well do that, although we’re not that big a company so maybe not, but it’s good to know.
