Hi,
I have problems with defunct domino processes like this:
21884 notes 15 0 0 0 0 Z 0,0 0,0 0:00 0 Y8042666.sh
With an uptime of 24days I get 470 defunct processes!
These are scripts domino runs to get storage information.
#!/bin/sh
/usr/bin/iostat -d -x 60 2 >/local/notesdata/Y2380840.TMP
But why are they defunct?
What can I do to end them?
This is a fully patched Redhat ES3 U5 with kernel 2.4.21-32.0.1.ELsmp.
Thanks
Rainer
Subject: Defunct Domino processes (iostat -x)
I encountered the same some time ago running redhat 8 (2.4.20-28.8 kernel - see this thread ).
Zoltan Csizmadia suggested a different kernel version as a solution.
That server’s been moved to a different box running debian with a 2.6 kernel and I haven’t seen those zombies again.
Cheers

Thanks for your answer.I’m afraid I cannot do this.
There is afaik no certified Linux with a 2.6 kernel.

Subject: how about a newer (certified) 2.4 kernel?
Zoltan mentioned in his post that upgrading his 2.4 kernel did the trick
Cheers
