This is a very strange problem happened in domino server that I ever crossed before. The problem is the SMTP keep on routing the mail to the wrong recipient even though we type-in the correct internet mail address. I have double checked the person document and since the user just a webuser and didn’t have the notes email, we forwarded the email to their own internet email address. The email address is correct in the person doc but still the SMTP routed the email to the wrong recepient. I wondering, it only happened to that particular user only and eventhough I have tested for other users the SMTP route the mail correctly. I have done a few methods by deleting the person doc and recreated again but the outcome is the same. Who ever got this problem could u guyz tell me why this can happen and how to resolve it? I need it urgently.
I don’t see how this could happen unless you are making the address change in a DD that is different from the one you are using to address the message. You could try deleting the person document and then see if you can address the message.
If I’ve deleted and still the message route to the wrong recepient, that’s mean? and what should I do? Unless the domino server will prompt an error message. Thanks for your kind advice. I will try to do that and tell you the outcome.
Do you have more than one directory for lookups (ie - directory assistance) and is there any similarity with the intended recipient (the one with the forward) and the user it eventually ends up going to?
You should check the mail routing events in the log.nsf of the SMTP server to see what the router is actually doing. Are you sending this message from within your notes domain, or are these messages coming from the internet?
FYI we sent this message from our notes domain and we just have one webnames.nsf directory. For names.nsf we just have 2 users registered others are webnames and the domino SMTP will route the message to our primary mail server (exchange server) for final routing. When I checked the log.nsf it showed me that the SMTP sent the message to the wrong address and not as I type-in. Why this is happening? I still can’t understand how this SMTP route this message to different email address eventhough I have type-in the address correctly. Other than names.nsf and webnames.f where did the SMTP refer the email address?
We’re running directory Assistance with 2 address books - 1 is our main NAB, the other is used for web authentication only.
From iNotes, I address email to steve@yahoo.com (an external email address).
When I look at the router on the iNotes server, the message is being sent to “Steve Smith” - a user in my 2nd NAB with no email address. Steve Smith happens to be the first Steve in my 2nd NAB. No reference to steve@yahoo.com in that person document. I want it to route to yahoo.com, not lookup in DA.
Why is the notes server doing a name lookup on a complete email address? This doesn’t happen from the Notes client, only from iNotes.
John, are you still having this issue? I am running into the same problem. I enter an Internet email address that it not listed in any of the Directory Assistance address books. The email is sent correctly from my Notes client (6.5.3) but not from my iNotes client. When I send the email from iNotes, it changes the address to an email address listed in my fourth address book. Do you have any suggestions?
John & Janna, are you still having this problem or did you manage to sort it. I’ve for the same issue and would appreciate any information that anyone might have on it.
