Default value in dialog list

I try to set a dialog list field to an initial value using DbLookup in the default value formula. The result value of the DbLookup is a string that looks like this:

“visible value | alias value”

Although using aliases is enabled for the field, both the visible value and the alias value are displayed.

Any ideas how to “hide” the alias?

Subject: default value in dialog list

Make sure the “Allow keyword synonyms” box is checked in the Control tab of the Properties box for the field.
