Default .ics file association

How do you default .ics files to open with Lotus Notes? It works ok on my machine, however on other users it opens in outlook.

I’ve set the default calendar program on their machines to Lotus Notes yet it still doesn’t open there. Is there somewhere after the fact of install where I can set Lotus Notes to be it’s default program?

Thanks

Subject: one way to check

is open Internet Explorer, go to Tools \ Internet Options …

and go to the programs tab. See what is the default here for Calendar. Should be Notes.

Subject: It already is.

If he clicks on the ics file, Lotus Notes just loads up but it just does nothing.

Subject: ok, try this

make sure Notes is open and the calendar is open … then click the ics file. you should not need to do that but try that.if that doesnt work, save the ics locally and see if you can import it.

Subject: Importing is fine…so is using Calendar Federation…

But what I was looking at doing was automatically saving an .ics file from another application, then telling users to open this file to add it to their calendars by double clicking it.

The main idea being the users being able to double click the file. Everything else works normally.

Anybody else have ideas? I noticed in the registry it uses the RCPlauncher.exe as it’s executable.

Subject: both are working for me

both import and the single click of the ics file on a browser page and double click on my desktop. 8.5 client and mail file?

Subject: Windows file association

In Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) go to Tools/Folder Options. On the File Types tab, scroll down to ICS and single click it. (you can just type ICS to get to it quickly)

Click the Change button to the right of “Opens with:” and then select Notes.
