Default encoding for received html emails

Hi,

we receive some html email coded in utf8.

under a V6 client, the email is readable, even special character as euro symbol, accents,…

but under a V8 (tested with 8.0, 8.0.1 and 8.0.2 FR), special character does not appear well.

for exemple, for “é”, we got “é” (without double-quote).

i have to force the encoding for Unicode (auto detect) to see special character.(by right clicking into the mail in read mode)

why the hell can’t we see special character as under a V6 client ?

Is it a regression like vista compared to xp ?

Subject: default encoding bypass

Hi,

after some test and a response from a lotus tech, here what i did to be able to read html emails with default unicode encoding under a V7 or V8 client:

create a new International MIME Setting in the names.nsf on the local client.

just let all by default but put unicode for secondary character set.

i do not know why the V6 cleint is well reading the html email and not the V7 or V8.

sounds like a regression to me.
