Default browser - Mac client

This topic has come up frequently here, but is unresolved. I’ve tried the suggested solution but it hasn’t worked at all.

Notes (Mac) defaults to IE for the Mac as its browser, an unsupported orphan product. Unfortunately, resetting the prefs (in 2 places) to use Firefox or Safari or other browser works only until you quit, then the program goes back to default.

As per forum recommendations, I’ve changed the default browser in both my Location Prefs and my Address Book prefs, also have filled in the default domain that Ginny Pressly suggested in this thread http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd6forum.nsf/55c38d716d632d9b8525689b005ba1c0/500ecec5baf9f9418525732400679e9a?OpenDocument&Highlight=0,pressly

But the default browser continues to flip back to IE.

Is there anyone who can walk me through a solution? Many thanks.

We have this problem too - and it seems to be a setting from the server side enforcing a policy that IE is the default. The policy is set as a global setting and even though we have set an exception that should overrule this, it is not taking. The setting seems to switch daily at about 10am (Pacific Time).

I am working closely with our Notes team on this, but so far we have not found a fix yet.

The Macs are running Notes 6.5.5 at our location.

Rich, I would appreciate you posting any solution if you do come up with it. We continue to suffer through this one. I am a user, not a technical person, and my knowledge is certainly exhausted on this.

An IT acquaintance suggested that the problem was perhaps in the Notes Prefs document, but I’ve been unable to spot a place to make the change …

Thanks,

Andy

Are you using policies in your organisation’s Domino Directory?
