Decs

houston we have a problem,

befor i describe our problem i will start with our environment.

  1. we are using 2 Domino 6.5.1 in a cluster

  2. Orale 9i

  3. conected through decs

Our Problem the server panics and shuts down and destroying our desc - activity documents

so that they cannot start again after the server has restarted automaticaly.

First:

This shutdown problem started when we moved the 2 Domino Servers to the DMZ. The Oracle servers ar not in the same

DMZ and communicate through a firewall witch drops the connections of the decs. because the firewall thinks that

the connection is not activ. => then the server starts to panic. How can we tell the fire wall that the connection is still alive.

Second:

How can it happen that the activity documents from decs are destroyed?

Or how can we shut down decs first befor the server restarts?

thanks a lot 4 help.

Subject: RE: DECS

The word “destroyed” is a little vague. The activity documents get deleted? Or they are damaged in some way? If they are still there afterwards, perhaps you could export the documents to a text file and then later, after this problem occurs, export again and compare them.

For preventing the problem from occurring, I don’t know whether the firewall might have a “keep active” mode that you could specify for the particular connection, but you could always create another activity that runs frequently – more frequently than the timeout of the firewall – and doesn’t do anything but read some data on a server inside the firewall.
